Military Times ranks Penn State World Campus as top-5 institution in U.S.

Penn State World Campus has again been recognized among the top 5 educational institutions for veterans in the country, including No. 1 in Pennsylvania.

Military Times ranked Penn State World Campus No. 5 in the Primarily Online Education Category of the 2024 “Best for Vets: Colleges” list. This is the third year World Campus has been ranked in the top 5.

Each year, Military Times releases “Best for Vets: Colleges,” which it calls the largest and most comprehensive ranking of schools for military service members and veterans. Military Times compiled the rankings based on surveys sent to colleges and universities about their programs for veterans as well as public data from the U.S. Department of Education and Department of Veterans Affairs.

Penn State World Campus was also ranked as the No. 1 institution in Pennsylvania and the No. 3 institution for military and veteran learners in the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S.

Penn State World Campus is the online campus of Penn State and has been offering education online since 1998. Today, it offers a comprehensive portfolio of more than 200 degrees and certificates.

In the fall 2023 semester, Penn State World Campus served more than 5,900 military-affiliated students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs.

Military students in all branches have access to the Penn State World Campus military support team. Many team members are veterans or military spouses. Students can also utilize specialized services to help support academic success while they are on active duty, deployed, or handling other responsibilities.

Penn State World Campus also offers a Military Grant-in-Aid program to help make higher education more affordable and attainable for service members and their spouses in undergraduate degree programs. Military Grant-in-Aid lowers the cost of undergraduate tuition by more than 40 percent per credit and can be combined with funding offered through the Department of Defense Tuition Assistance (TA) program.

The recognition from Military Times is one of the many awards and affiliations with the military community for Penn State World Campus. In 2023, Penn State World Campus partnered with the USO to further its support for military service members.

Penn State is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and many programs offered online through Penn State World Campus have additional accreditations through governing bodies in those fields of study.

Penn State World Campus has consistently been recognized as a military-friendly school for the many education benefits and support resources available to active-duty service members, reservists, veterans, and ROTC students.
