Introducing Penn State Go Web version for World Campus students

A web version of the Penn State Go mobile app is being made available to Penn State World Campus students starting April 17.

The Penn State Go Web version provides a single sign-on integration to services, resources, and personalized content in one convenient place through a web browser on a laptop or desktop computer. The web version contains the features that World Campus students frequently use, such as Canvas, LionPATH, email, Starfish, and more.

The award-winning design of the Penn State Go Web version provides a familiar experience to the mobile app by offering one-click access to key services and resources while taking advantage of the additional screen space to display personalized content, including Starfish alerts, adviser information, favorited Canvas courses and grades, Canvas announcements, To-Do items, and unread inbox messages.

Jennifer Zeares, a member of the Penn State World Campus Student Advisory Board, was invited to preview the Penn State Go Web version.

“The personalized home base makes it easy to locate every type of information I need in one location,” Zeares said. “It’s my go-to and replaces having to bookmark twenty different links.”

Launched in 2020, the Penn State Go mobile app was developed as part of a University-wide initiative to bring together various units and departments to improve the student mobile experience. Since its release, the mobile app has surpassed 200,000+ downloads and now offers 26 user experiences — University Park, individual commonwealth campuses, Penn State World Campus, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and families.

Available from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, the Penn State Go mobile app has also become an essential communication channel where students can receive timely information and engage with special events happening in and around the various campuses.

Each year, the Appademy Awards recognizes the best apps in higher education, awarding those that delivered outstanding experiences to their campus communities. The Penn State Go Web version took first place in the 2022 Best Desktop Experience category at the fifth annual Appademy Awards presented by Modo Labs.

The new Penn State Go Web version serves as an additional access point to critical academic resources at Penn State. It aligns with the University’s strategic plan priority of “Transforming Education” and the vision for One Penn State 2025 to provide a seamless student experience and online access to processes across all Penn State campuses.

“Any time that we can support seamless access to the essential content students need, we are making their experience better,” said Renata Engel, Penn State vice provost for Online Education.

Along with the release of the Penn State Go Web version for World Campus, the World Campus experience in the Penn State Go mobile app has also been updated. Personalized features are coming soon to the World Campus experience in the Penn State Go mobile app.

Penn State Go is continually developing innovative ways to support University initiatives to meet the demands of the modern student with a focus on personalization. Exciting new developments are underway that will update the look and feel of the Penn State Go mobile app and allow users to favorite frequently used icons and receive more targeted communications based on users’ specific interests and academic programs.

Penn State World Campus students can access the new Penn State Go Web version on a laptop or desktop computer.
