Roar Where You Are Scavenger Hunt

Penn State World Campus Alumni Society volunteers invite all Penn State alumni and World Campus students to participate in a five-day scavenger hunt! You can participate in this family-friendly, on-your-schedule, roaring fun activity wherever you live. Activities can be completed throughout the week in your neighborhood, throughout your travels to and from University Park for Penn State Alumni Association’s (PSAA) We Are Weekend festivities, or wherever you are! Bring your adventurous self and play to win Penn State swag!

Scavenger Hunt (Live Now!)

When: June 18 (following the kick-off meeting) through June 23

You do not need to be registered to participate in the scavenger hunt and you can participate from anywhere!

If you registered in time to receive the postcard in the mail, be sure to use it in your selfie photos. If you did not register in time to receive a postcard, download and print the pdf to include in your pictures.

We encourage you to step out of your comfort zone but be lawful and safe while having fun!

If you have not joined our “Penn State World Campus Alumni” Facebook group or followed @pennstateworldcampusalumni on Instagram, now is a great time to do so. You need not be an alumna/us of World Campus to join.

There are two categories for competition:

Individual — One individual executes the challenges, and friends and family may be in the pictures.
Team – Up to six people may work together to execute as many challenges as possible, and you can still have friends and family in the pictures and along for the ride.

Send your completed challenges to alumni@worldcampus.psu.edu
Subject line: #YourTeam/IndividualName
If sending a single completed challenge, include the challenge number in subject
If sending all completed challenges in one email, name each picture with the challenge number

Contestants may also enter the contest by mail. Print your completed challenges and mark each one with the corresponding challenge number. Include your team or individual name on your pages and send to: Marcia Kimler, Penn State World Campus, Development and Alumni Relations, 100 Innovation Blvd. Suite 223, University Park, PA 16802. Mailed entries must be postmarked by June 24, 2024.

Note: Photos submitted by email or mail will not be published and will only be used as proof of participation. Winners will be officially notified on Monday, July 1, 2024.

Points are tabulated by team/individual name.

Challenge Types

Music (5 points) — Send us a YouTube link featuring music. Official Penn State songs (e.g., Alma Mater, Fight Song, Hail to the Lion) do not count.
Pay It Forward (15 points) — An easy way to give back during the hunt
Photo (5 points) — Selfie, groupie, just the scenery, screen shot
Video (10 points) — Lights, Camera, Action!

First-place winners in each category will receive the smallest Nittany Lion statue we have ever seen, thanks to Penn State students at The Learning Factory. It will be, in fact, so small (1 inch tall) that you will be able to proudly display it anywhere or take it with you to “Roar” anywhere and everywhere.

Second- and third-place winners in each category will receive a swag pack.

Join the online party to share stories, learn the preliminary winners, and see some of the most outrageously fun, unique, or artistic submissions! A special thank you goes to the Board’s Outreach Committee for engaging the entire Penn State alumni family in this fun way! Participants need not be present to win. Join the closing celebration on Zoom.
