This memoir describes Tara’s upbringing, quest for education, and family dynamics. Raised by survivalist parents in Idaho, she was 17 the first time she set foot in a classroom. She recounts overcoming her family to go to college, her journey in understanding the larger world in which she lives, her pursuit of her Ph.D., and her continued balance of her family relationships.
